GENERAL INFORMATION
"Jayla" 2017 Black Thoroughbred Filly 16.3 HH |
Jayla is the perfect combination of both dam and sire. Intelligent and slightly dominant, yet social and pleasing. Her intelligence has enabled her to pick her stable lock open, a trait that seems to have been passed down from her sire. She was definitely the boss of the 2017 foal crop and nothing slipped passed her attention without her approval. As long as Mockingjay is at the top of the herd, she's content with being around other horses, but she will put any horse that steps out of line back into place. With humans, Jayla is a different horse. She is incredibly sweet, careful, thoughtful, and a joy to work with. It seems to her she doesn't need to be at the top with humans and just enjoys being around her jockeys and handlers, and has seemed to take an extreme liking to owner Elizabeth Green. Mockingjay will stand calmly for tacking up or grooming and keeping her under control on the track is no problem.
|
Mockingjay is usually calm around the tracks as long as her humans are around her. She doesn't really pay much attention to the other horses during the post parade and focuses on the race ahead of her. Jayla, like her sire, also breaks fast to settle in to the field. She is always looking around and flicking her ears, seeming to be paying attention to every move every horse in the race makes. Mockingjay is able to run in position, be it frontrunner and setting the pace or the closer, impressing everyone in the stands with an amazing finish.
